For the second time within a week I had to watch a stupid TV spot where the former tennis star Martina Hingis advertises cooking equipment (!) in such a clumsy way that it hurts. I doubt that this campaign will sell a single unit. But what do I know...

A tribute to the inventor of the ATM

This morning while withdrawing money from an ATM I was thinking how handy these maschines are and how we've come to take them for granted. However getting cash around the clock wasn't always so easy... I did a quick search on who the inventor is and found diverging opinions. Most seem to agree, that John Shepherd-Barron is the one who first installed an ATM out of frustration for not being able to pick up money on weekends! That's what this BBC story tells us. Great job John! He was probably not really the inventor but the one who pushed the concept into the market. Inventor names being considered here are: Jon Turner, J.-P. Coudreuse or Sandy Frasure. Whoever is responsible I make this 26th October the tribute to the ATM inventor day.

As of today the debut album of the superstar DJ's is out. It's called "the men we all know and love" and kicks ass! The video is ace and been shown nonstop on telly. Blogwiese: Is it ok for Germans to make fun of Switzerland?

A German guy who lives in Switzerland is blogging on curiosities and such he encountered while living here. In very much the same vein as the stupid books that are available on the same topic he tries to be funny in a - admittedly - good written style. The question that arises: Is it ok for Germans to make fun of their hosts while it is not ok of their hosts to make fun of them? Aren't they here for a reason? (i.e. job, taxes, living standard...)? Nothing against a good joke but a whole blog dedicated to this is a bit too much for me to take, especially these days. Go see yourself at Blogwiese.ch

First post from Flock

Flock is a new browser which currently is in Version 0.5 or so. Besides many cool features you can blog directly from within your browser. All that needs to be done is a short configuration to let the flock browser know where to post. The Blog functionality is also integrated with Flickr. Posting Images along is a breeze. First impression is very good, if this runs stable I will get rid of my beloved Opera :) Go here for more info Flock
